Sea turtle hatcheries are within 15 minutes of Sri Mathie. Or try your hand at deep-sea fishing. Scuba, snorkeling and surfing are all within 30 to 60 minutes’ drive.
Take a day trip to the Uda Walawe National Park, home of an elephant orphanage and site for a guided safari. It’s easily within reach of our house.
Or we can arrange a safari at Yala National Park and Reserve to see leopards, samba, deer, wild boar, jackals, elephant, wild buffalo, mongooses, foxes, water monitor lizards, crocodiles, and sloth bears.
The Sinharaja Rainforest is Sri Lanka’s only remaining rainforest and is now a protected zone. On your travels, you are likely to see rusty spotted cats, deer, squirrels, porcupines, pangolins, 45 species of reptiles, 147 species of birds and many stunning butterflies.
BundalaNational Park is one of Sri Lanka's foremost destinations for birdwatchers - 197 bird species have been recorded here, made up of 139 resident species and 58 seasonal visitors.
